When I tell people I spend 2-3 hours every day on personal growth, they typically gasp and say "I will NEVER have time to do that!" I used to ride along in that boat, but it started with a 5 minute journaling practice and as my goals got clearer, the importance + priority of these tasks grew. If you want to reach your potential, you've got to dial in your energy. That means setting a special time just for your own growth. Each morning, I do just that, and it sets me up for success for the rest of the day! Journaling, meditating, sleep tracking, bio-hacking, nutrition, and language acquisition are just a few parts of my daily routine. There's a method to my madness, it's called Blissipline. It's a little something I learned from my friendly neighborhood Philosopher, Brian Johnson. But what the heck does it mean? Here's my definition: Blissipline /noun/ The synergy of Discipline & Bliss: When a person is committed to performing a daily routine for the dualistic purpose of personal growth & happiness. Isn't that nice? When you mix a bit of fun with the things that you have to get done, you're more able to complete them. That's where blissiplines come in. It's when you do the things that are good for you AND the act of doing it makes you happy. THAT'S BLISSIPLINE! If you're still wondering what constitutes a task as blissipline worthy, they're the things that your ideal self would do (or not do) on a day-to-day basis. Wish you'd practiced meditation? That can be your blissipline! Learn a language? Sure! Cut out refined foods? Yup! Gratitude Journal? Exercise? Organize? Yes and yes! The more specific and measurable the better! Gamefy it! The moment you turn the have to's or the need to's into want to's or choose to's, you will begin to see things differently. You feel empowered and more in control! Who doesn't want that? Start taking action on those daily tasks and work towards those goals. Then be mindful of the happiness you feel after completing it each time! Do a celebratory happy dance, or pat yourself on the back! Just make sure you're having fun. You'll be well on your way to a life of bliss. Cheers, Z P.S. Alright. So, what's ONE blissipline that you know you want to start? You ready to commit? Let me know! P.P.S If you want help planning your blissiplines or goals, hit me up! It's been a long time coming, but here it is. My first real blog post. I'm excited to get creating and sharing my passion this year. Let's rock 2015 as we learn a thing or two about making the best of our lives. (For those aware peeps, I did start something like this in January of last year, but when I was picked up by en*theos shortly after, I put it on the back burner! Now it's my main dish, so let's get cookin'!!)
2014 was an amazing year for me. I've studied the greats and developed so much from everything I've learned. On top of graduating with honors (making momma proud!) and all the growth I went through while being in school, I also listened to/read the essential teachings of 180 top tier Personal Development books like Mindset by Carol Dweck, The How of Happiness by Sonja Lyubomirsky, Body Mind Mastery, Spark, The Tao te Ching, The Dhammapada, etc. That's a whole lot of wisdom. In addition, I've connected with over 100 world-class experts in various Health/Wellness fields. Like myself, they're all dedicated in helping others improve their lives. For example, the stud Jonathan Bailor, a nutrition + exercise expert, is a New York Times bestselling author of the Calorie Myth and the founder of SANESolution.com; My good friend Kara Smith, creator of Ideal Work Lab, helps people with stressful work-life balance; Jeff Fajans is a creativity and innovation master; Erin Livers is an awesome multi-faceted nutrition therapist; Katie Silcox is a yogini and inspirational teacher. . . you get it. They're all unique + amazing individuals that help you rock your best life ever! I've had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with each of them and gained hundreds (thousands?) of wisdom packed Big Ideas that they threw my way. Luckily my head hasn't exploded due to content overload. Before that happens, I'm looking to integrate it + spew it back out in clusters so people can see what resonates with them and start applying it to their lives. My goal is to inspire you to be healthy, happy, and achieve you goals. LET'S GO! Cheers, Z P.S. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any Q's. The world of personal development is a huge place. I can help you navigate through the crap, show you where to start, who to trust, and all that jazz. Or if you just want to know some great resources, I can hook you up with that too. Shoot me a message here! |
